A family home, a gallery of today
At 78 cours Georges Clemenceau, in the Bordeaux golden triangle, a gray marble storefront created in 1949 still stops the eye. This is where the Galerie JAF welcomes collectors, curious and professionals—just a stone’s throw from the Place des Quinconces and the alleys of Tourny.
Behind the initials JAF, there are two first names and a lineage: Jérémy and Antony Falck, cousins, third generation of a family which, since the 1950s, has made the trade of old carpets, art objects and decoration a profession of gaze. They take over the family torch from 2008. In 2016, they founded the company Galerie JAF and refocused their activity on modern and contemporary art: paintings, sculptures, drawings, signatures of masters and more recent voices.
The gallery is not just a place of passage. The works presented are chosen, searched for, and purchased. Here, you can look for a long time. There is no obligation to buy.
The Founders
Antony Falck (born in October 1985) and Jérémy Falck (born in October 1986) have been managers of the SARL since its creation. Their first names form the name of the house. They work together, as we have a legacy: both know the stock, the artists, the venues, the Clemenceau court and now Antibes.
They did not invent the taste of the object. They received it, then moved it. Where the previous generation spoke of carpets, furniture, antiques, they speak of Buffet, Combas, Venard, Venet, lyrical abstraction and contemporary scene. As for the place, it hasn’t moved: same prestigious address, same demand for quality, another century of images.
Their line is clear. To offer works of real demand, at prices ranging from first purchase to big name. A Max Rovira does not have the rating of a Combas or a Buffet; the gallery assumes this range. Diversity is not a selection defect, it’s the strong point of the catalog.
A Bordelais History
In the 1950s, the Falck family settled in the center of Bordeaux, then at the Georges Clemenceau school. The district is that of large arteries, mansions, a luxury business which has always mixed decoration and art of living.
For a long time, the Falck eye was trained on materials: carpet wool, wood, bronze, rare objects. This school—touch, provenance, state, rarity—did not disappear when the gallery switched to canvas and contemporary sculpture. A painting by Marfaing or an arch by Venet are also viewed with this discipline: is it fair, is it held, will it fit in a collection?
Galerie JAF was officially born on 1 February 2016, at the RCS of Bordeaux. The declared activity says exactly the project: marketing works of art, designing exhibitions, advising on purchasing, building collections for individuals, companies and foundations.
Bordeaux et Antibes
Two cities, two lights.
Bordeaux, 78 cours Georges Clemenceau: the headquarters, the golden triangle, the historic house. This is where the heart of the story lies, following the rhythm of the seasons and the clashes.
Antibes, 24 cours Masséna: after years of trade shows on the Côte d’Azur, the opening was a must. One hundred metres from the Picasso Museum, in the region of Matisse, Renoir and Chagall, the gallery is aimed at an audience who already knows painting. Le Midi is not a holiday showcase; it is a second exhibition workshop, designed for sculptures and canvases that demand the day of the South.
From one bank to another, the catalogue remains the same: a collection held, shown, told.
Our Vision
A place. A vision. A work.
The JAF Gallery believes that a collection is built by looking, not by rushing. She accompanies the acquisition, estimates, appraises with discretion, and offers professionals the rental of works for an office, a hall, an event.
The artists we meet in its rooms draw a coherent territory, from the 20th century to today: Bernard Buffet, Robert Combas, Claude Venard, Fernand Léger, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Arman, César, Bernar Venet, André Marfaing, Gérard Schneider, Hans Hartung, Jean Miotte, Olivier Debré, Fabienne Verdier, Erró, Guillaume Cavalier, Foncky Two, Somsak Hanumas, Deepa Khanna Sobti, Christian Lapie, Antoniucci Officieuses… Combas, it has been written, remained for a long time “the darling” of the house. Around him, lyrical abstraction and gesture hold as much space as figuration.
It is not a museum. It is a gallery that assumes commerce—and wants commerce to remain a conversation.
What We Propose
Acquisition advice. Choosing a work means choosing a presence for years. We help to formulate what we are looking for: a first painting, a collection reinforcement, a room for a foundation.
Estimation and expertise. Analysis of the value, the condition, and the place of a piece in an artist’s work—with the necessary caveat: an online notice is not a certificate.
Exhibitions and events. Design, hanging, animation. The gallery is not just a stock; it’s a rhythm of presentations.
Rental. For companies and places that want a living art without immediate purchase.
